Hig survived the flu that took everyone else: his wife, his friends, his entire life. Now he lives in an abandoned airport hangar, accompanied only by his dog and a surly, armed neighbor. In his '56 Cessna, Hig flies over the airfield's silence every day or escapes to the mountains to fish and remember, even for a moment, what the world used to be like. Until, through the radio static, a voice appears. An unlikely spark that awakens in him the idea that something like hope might still exist. He decides to follow it. He crosses the point of no return, without enough fuel to go back, chasing that fragile signal. What he finds—in others and in himself—will be more beautiful and more terrible than he could ever have imagined.
