Un mundo para Julius
$ 26.45
La mejor novela peruana de todos los tiempos.
A World for Julius was born from the proliferation of a short story, not intended to exceed ten pages, which, during the writing process, was meant to serve as an epilogue that was ultimately never written.
From a certain perspective, the novel is a portrait of a happy and carefree segment of Lima's oligarchy, which, in reality, reflects the world of the oligarchy in many other contemporary cities. The central character, Julius, an intelligent boy favored by fortune, a happy offspring of prosperity, is primarily a pretext, the point of constant convergence for a system of customs and ideas that shape a situation tinged with good taste, threatened by fragility, and underscored by a terrible injustice.
The book is a rare example in Latin American literature of narrative subtlety, of a stylistic effort to keep the episodes free from any direct judgment, reproducing them with tenderness and with what is truly beautiful, effortless, and appealing about them.
