Throughout history, the guitar and its predecessor instruments have resorted to the practice of adapting music not originally written for them. In fact, a large part of the current repertoire is made up of transcriptions and arrangements of music from all eras. However, it is not common for guitar students to receive training on this topic, so closely linked to their instrument, during their musical studies; and there is not even a specialized bibliography that they can turn to to alleviate this lack. With this book, Juan Manuel Ruiz Pardo aims to reverse the situation and make a significant contribution in this field. It analyzes the phenomenon of transcription in a comprehensive way and tries to provide guidelines that help guitarists to know it in depth, to form their own criteria and, eventually, to approach the creation of their own transcriptions. The result is a work without parallel, destined to become a mandatory reference in the near future.
