Daisy Flowers is fifteen years old in 1978 when her free-spirited mother drops her off in Possum Flats, Missouri. Inspired by the true story of the Bond Dance Hall explosion, a tragedy that occurred in the author's hometown of West Plains, Missouri, on April 13, 1928. The cause of the explosion was never determined.
