Rigodón

Rigodon is, in short, the pathetic story of a man adrift...; the account of Céline's journey through Germany in 1944, a few months before the end of World War II, in an attempt to reach Denmark, specifically Sigmaringen, where the Vichy government was hiding. He is accompanied by the actor Robert Le Vigan, his wife Lucette, and their cat Bébert, and together they intend to recover gold buried in the garden of a dancer friend. Meanwhile, with vivid descriptions of fires and rubble, Céline weaves together experiences and thoughts: his contempt for his publisher, unwelcome visitors, his resentment of his imprisonment in Denmark, and his perspective on the events unfolding around him.
