Waset, the prosperous and bustling capital of the Egyptian Empire, is experiencing turbulent times. Ravaged by a relentless plague that is decimating the population and plagued by the corruption of the priests of the cult of Amun, skilled manipulators of the deadly disease, the city seems mired in misery. Faced with this situation, Pharaoh Akhenaten, well-advised by his wise and mysterious sister Isis, decides to put an end to the privileges of this religious caste. The first step will be to find a place to establish his residence and that of the court, far from the cursed Waset. Then, he will establish the new cult of the god Aten, represented by the solar disk, to strip the avaricious clergy of their power and influence. As expected, his controversial decisions arouse much suspicion and resentment. Furthermore, the former priests do not forgive their lost privileges, and Akhenaten's obsession begins to raise questions among his subjects. Even those closest to the monarch—his sister Isis or his attractive wife, Nefertiti—sense that danger is approaching and that not even the royal family is free from the wrath of the gods... and of men.
