American western en España

This essay documents and illuminates Spain's role (its film industry and socio-political framework, its landscapes and settings, its identity) in the American Western since its emergence in the country in the late 1950s, both through co-productions and entirely American films. Structured chronologically, it situates the film critic's assessment within its cultural and historical context, including local customs and anecdotes, and paying close attention to locations (primarily northern Madrid and the province of Almería) and sets (towns, ranches, forts, etc.). Foreword by Diana Lorys, an actress in sixteen Westerns filmed in Spain alongside Hollywood stars.
