We're all two steps away from disappearing. Alex Gual has already taken them. He lives in a hotel called Excalibur, works as a lawyer, and is as good at finding people as he is at losing things. He's adrift in the wreckage of his relationship with Lola K., a painter down on his luck, though what truly keeps him going is his connection to Señor Paco, the man who operates in the city's shadiest circles from his bar, Donna Summer. When the death of an Australian rugby player and the disappearance of another Briton, Andy Cox, unleash a media frenzy, Señor Paco senses an opportunity and uses Alex to sell evidence to the highest bidder. But as he tries to vanish among the city's lost and found, Alex finds himself drawn into the search for Cox, an unexpected attraction to Inés, the waitress at Donna Summer, and the painful possibility of losing things himself in order to become someone again.
