Spring has just arrived in Avilés with the promise of mild temperatures and perhaps one day or so when storms, incessant rains and the fine orbayu that penetrates to the bones give respite to the inhabitants of the Asturian city. Some have already taken to the streets this Friday, March 22, to enjoy the afternoon that precedes the well-deserved rest of the weekend. The members of the Judicial group of the National Police have delayed the moment of going home to celebrate the fifty-two years of Deva Prendes, their boss. At the police station are Juanjo, almost the same age, who is united not only by decades of work, but by a friendship that has made them confidants of their personal miseries; Sergio, affectionate, decisive and passionate, a first-time father eager to see his little devil, and Sandra, the youngest, an energetic woman who radiates empathy and who already visualizes the waves that the sea promises her in nearby Salinas on Saturday morning. They have hardly even been able to toast the health of their beloved boss when they receive a call that will truncate their projects and not only during the weekend: in the Plaza de España, the epicenter of Avilés, a young woman has just committed a macabre, bloody suicide, which seems more like a satanic ritual orchestrated by a sinister stage director than a suicide itself. What or who has pushed her to the limit? Deva and her team will have to answer this question, and against the clock, since Paula Montero Díez, the suicide - who had disappeared four years ago - is the first, but not the last victim.
