A world without bees is a world without a future. After the death of the last bee, the balance of the universe vanished. Now, the earth is plagued by famine and war. Reading and creating art are forbidden. Humans are forbidden to believe in the existence of love. Like all the girls, Jess was torn from her home and taken to live in government-run residences.
