La infancia de Caín

Daniel lives in a small English village, tormented by the oppressive feeling of not belonging, of being different. His family doesn't understand his artistic abilities and an intelligence that, at twelve years old, leads him to question the contradictions and social conventions of the narrow world they inhabit. When his father loses his position as director of the school choir, the family is swept along by his whim to embark on a rural life for which they are unprepared. His mother, a beautiful but unsuccessful actress who claims to see spirits and believes in dragons, suffers bouts of depression that embarrass the boy as much as his father's drinking problem, which spends more and more time each day in the village pub. Thus, Daniel finds his only solace in Philip, the new student at the school, whom he admires with intense confusion. And both will fall under the spell of a charismatic art teacher who will show them a dangerous path.
