Ingrid Dahl, a cheerful 29-year-old bookseller living in the cozy mountain town of Ridgetop in North Carolina, has been happily married to her college sweetheart, Cory, for 11 years without ever considering marriage. However, when Ingrid's sister, Riley, announces her engagement to her girlfriend after only two years together, Ingrid and Cory feel pressured and begin to rethink their future. Neither of them has been with anyone else, so they decide to do something unconventional: take a month-long break from dating and then start planning their wedding. Ingrid even has someone in mind: Macon Nowakowski, her coworker, a charmingly grumpy man she's secretly liked for years. But plans take an unexpected turn, and when the month is up, Ingrid is determined to extend her engagement and finally live out her long-awaited love.
