“Learn to govern yourself before you govern others,” said the wise Solon. But how can anyone govern themselves without even knowing what that “self” consists of? At this moment, when we are witnessing the failure of democratic systems, the breakdown of all state pacts, and, on the part of Europe, a renewed call to belligerence, it is time to answer that question. Because without a proper understanding of who we are, I fear we will not be able to develop and implement the ethopoeia we need if we want to make this planet habitable again. It is with this conviction that I set out to explore, in these briefs, the five realms (ethical, political, spiritual, artistic, and educational) in which our worlds and the language that sustains them are forged. Is it utopian to think that, through a sentimental education, we can one day cease to be that tribe of mice who, oblivious to the fire, blindly follow the loudest flute?
