La sangre

New Orleans, 1897. It's Mardi Gras night, and Alexander Le Bois, heir to one of the city's most prominent families, begins exhibiting strange symptoms during the grand ball at the French Opera House. Isabella, his young wife, born in Cuba and raised in Oviedo, desperately seeks help and finds only Markus, a Black doctor with little reputation and limited access to medicine reserved for whites. When Alexander's mysterious illness begins to spread mercilessly through New Orleans, Inspector Morgan De Sanctis and Dr. Schmidt, head of epidemic control, suspect that the disease doesn't affect everyone equally. But no one imagines that behind its spread lies a truth darker and more terrifying than any disease.
