Las crines

A man travels from Spain to Argentina with a key in his pocket. A friend has lent him a house, a country estate, to spend a few weeks. He will write to her, to this friend, recounting his experiences, the power of the house itself and of something beyond it. What he seeks, once again, is solitude, his own solitude, but very soon he will meet some people who will compel him to leave, to become part of something larger, of all those lives, their confinement, their terror, their hope, their humanity. Among them, a young gaucho, the son of a wealthy rancher, who will guide him through the land and its customs; a deranged shepherd who lives in a cave with his daughter and his animals; and other characters who, within the vastness of the plains, will form a peculiar microcosm. The Argentine pampa itself —its sounds, its nights, its light— will accompany, like a superior entity, like a total narrator, his journey, his gaze, and the strange passage of those days.
