Nausicaä del Valle del Viento, 1

The once-prosperous civilization vanished into the mists of time. The land, meanwhile, was reclaimed by the corrupted jungle, a forest of gigantic fungi that emit poisonous fumes. The remaining human population in the regions bordering the contaminated zone is sparse. These people have organized themselves into a series of kingdoms scattered here and there. This is the story of Nausicaä and the Valley of the Wind, a small kingdom of barely 500 inhabitants, barely protected from the corrupted jungle's pollution by the breeze that blows in from the ocean.
