Shutter Island

September 1954. On a small island called Shutter Island, off the coast of Boston, stands a sinister-looking complex of buildings: a psychiatric hospital whose patients, all deeply disturbed and under strict surveillance, have committed serious crimes. Federal agent Teddy Daniels and his assistant, Chuck Aule, are sent there because one of the inmates, Rachel Solando, seems to have somehow escaped from a locked cell. The only clue is a piece of paper with a series of numbers and letters bearing no apparent meaning. As a furious hurricane batters the island, the two officers delve into an increasingly opaque and unsettling world, amidst hints of radical experiments and covert government machinations that cast a shadow over an already bizarre case. As their investigation progresses, the questions multiply: they no longer concern just the missing woman, but the nature of everything that happens in that place surrounded by an electrified fence and armed guards. And the closer they get to the truth, the more elusive it becomes, to the point where they begin to believe they may never leave Shutter Island.
