Gathered in Londinium, the lords of England try to discover which of them will become Supreme Monarch. Fifteen years after the sword was placed in the stone, Arthur fearfully approaches the steel. He looks at Merlin, who nods silently. Arthur closes his eyes and notices how naturally his hand fits the hilt carved in the shape of an eagle. He pulls it in. The sound of steel scraping against the stone is heard, followed by a gasp of surprise from the crowd as he raises the enormous sword and brandishes it in the air for all to see...
