Las carniceras

In a middle-class neighborhood of Rouen, the pink facade of The Butchers is impossible to miss. From the street, you can hear the sharpening of knives, the thud of cuts of meat on the counter, and the laughter of the three women who run it. But these women share more than just their profession: they have all been victims of gender-based violence, and although they have survived, they have not forgotten. When one of them suffers another attack, their reaction is swift and collective. They decide they have endured enough and that the perpetrators —the rapists, the accomplices, the liars, and the abusers— will pay for their crimes. As several men in the neighborhood begin to disappear without a trace, panic spreads among the residents. In a matter of weeks, these unique vigilantes become the target of gossip and threats, and while they keep a close eye on anyone who might cross the line, the police slowly close in on them.
