La vagabunda

Renée Néré, a young writer scarred by her divorce from the celebrated painter Adolphe Taillandy, decides to rebuild her life as a music-hall actress. Despite her firm resolve never to depend on any man and to embrace the freedom afforded by her itinerant career, an unexpected attraction to Maxime Dufferein-Chautel, a wealthy bourgeois who offers her a comfortable and secure life, confronts her with a dilemma: whether to continue her life as a "vagabond" alone or succumb to the temptation of love.
