Arqueología de los cuidados : ¿Inventó el feminismo la revolución de los afectos?

Caregiving was born for us in the form of a promise. Gabriel Celaya's lucidity had, years before, bestowed upon poetry the honorable title of "a weapon loaded with the future," and we, too, understood this caregiving that was pointed at our hearts. We constantly spoke of revolutionizing affection, but perhaps we never truly knew what these words meant. For this reason, what we imagined as a new paradigm from which to relate in a purer and more altruistic way ended up becoming, unforeseen by anyone, the object of dispute, recriminations, and uncomfortable obligations among friends and colleagues. However, this is not a book about feminism. Nor is it about caregiving; at least, not about it today. This book speaks of its death. Like a detective investigating a hidden crime, we will delve into the past of caregiving to discover why its presence in the political debate has been so brief. Perhaps all is not yet lost. Did any similar experience exist in our history that could account for the gestures and emotions we now encompass under the concept of care? Traveling through narratives as ancient as the ruins of Athens or Jerusalem, guided by Sappho, Thucydides, and Homer, but also by King David, Abraham, and the anarchic city of Sodom, we will settle the philosophical debt incurred by the revolution of affections for not having sufficiently questioned its legacy. Because to save care, we must first unearth its true essence.
