Following the indiscriminate construction of reservoirs, the flagship project of the mid-20th century in Spain, more than five hundred villages were submerged beneath the waters, often under tragic circumstances. Destroyed by dynamite and indifference, these places continue to demand their place in the collective memory. "The Submerged Villages" aims to reveal the tragic circumstances of their disappearance and all the events that were silenced at the time by the Franco regime. Few divers dare to explore the perilous waters of these aquatic cemeteries, a source of legends and superstitions, shrouded in an aura of taboo and awe-inspiring mystery.
