El latido de las mariposas

Granada, 2025. Everyone knows Inspector Barea by her surname. Almost no one knows her first name, nor that she suffers from a heart condition that would force her to retire from her post because her heart doesn't withstand exertion, stress, and overwhelming emotions well. When the city is shaken by a series of terrible crimes, Barea must confront her most important case, one that not only endangers the lives she has sworn to protect, but also her closest circle and her own survival. What initially appears to be a politically motivated settling of scores becomes a far more disturbing ritual as the victims pile up. Each crime scene bears the killer's mark: butterflies next to the bodies. But are we dealing with just any ordinary killer? Barea will have to race against time to stop the wave of crimes while grappling with the problems of her ailing heart, not only because of her debilitating condition, but also because of the bond that ties her to a man she loves, but who is destroying her.
