In the mountains, a Nepalese insurgency shakes the region and strains Sai's budding love for her young guardian, Gyan, who is drawn to the rebellion and its promises of change. The lives of all—the judge, the cook, the granddaughter, and the estranged son—are swept along by the same current of uncertainty and longing, as the entire nation grapples with hope and betrayal.
