The pre-Christmas Eve dinner is a tradition among Jude's friends. So is the fact that he attends year after year without a date, and the teasing that ensues. With the night just days away, Jude desperately searches for a stranger willing to join him. Against all odds, one of them agrees. Penny hates Christmas because she finds it hypocritical, and that includes Jude himself and all the changes he makes in his life simply because the calendar turns. But Jude doesn't need her to like him; he just needs her to do him that small favor. None of them expect what began as a fake relationship to deepen, to find in each other the person they needed. And even less so that, when the time comes to make decisions, they won't be the ones they expected.
