In the Cambrils stream, a woman was found wrapped in a sheet, clutching an ostrich feather, her heart removed. In the same spot, inside a suitcase, the dismembered body of a prosecutor was discovered, his face covered by a mask of the Egyptian god Anubis. When officers Sagi and Vidal of the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police) begin their investigation, they uncover an unexpected link between this brutal crime, an accident at the Vandellós nuclear power plant three decades earlier, and the legend surrounding Egyptologist Albert Coma, a 19th-century figure fascinated by Egyptian culture and the promise of eternal life. With the help of journalist Lara Peña, the inspectors must piece together a puzzle that stretches back to ancient Egypt, where the beauty of myth may conceal the most perverse barbarity.
