Between what she truly was and what she could have been, Catalina de Erauso forged her own legend. The legend of a woman who, like few others, dared to transgress any kind of order in the 17th century, even the one imposed by her own body. Born into a wealthy family in San Sebastián, the youngest of six children, she was sent to a Dominican convent at the age of four. Immediately, her rebelliousness and intransigence took root. At fifteen, she ran away, fled into the world. And she decided to dress as a man, to live her life as one. From then on, nothing human was foreign to her. Fury and war marked her skin as much as each of her days. With her assumed identity, she traveled aimlessly. She crossed the Atlantic and fought and killed for her king, but also for herself.
