G.H.—whose full name we never learn—is an independent woman, an amateur sculptor, and well-connected in Rio de Janeiro's most influential circles. One day, alone in her attic, she has an extraordinary experience that confronts her with her own limitations. This experience fills her with nausea and unleashes a torrent of intimate reflections, some previously unknown to her, about her emotions, fears, anxieties, and the essence of her existence. What seems like a trivial event becomes a catalyst that leads her to examine her life from childhood and, ultimately, to resolve to overcome her deepest fears.
